Since childhood, I have had a deep love and eagerness to learn yoga.
During our school days, we used to have a yoga hour once a week. We were asked to bring a yoga mat, but not everyone had one, including me. So, I would take a rough towelπ instead.
PT period and yoga period were truly the best times in school, especially until 8th grade.
As an adult, I developed the habit of doing yoga during COVID. It helped me a lot in rejuvenating myself. When the whole world was struggling for life, this practice saved and healed me in many ways.
However, I continued yoga only for a few months in college. I thought I didn’t have enough time, so I stopped. But the truth is, I was never really that busy and now I realize it more clearly.
Yesterday, I was telling my friend about how I used to practice yoga. And now we turn to yoga only when some illness happens, and at that moment, I realized it had been so long since I last did it too.
After almost a long gap, I practiced yoga yesterday, and today is my second day. Nothing very professional or difficult—just a few simple body-relief asanas. And honestly, everyone should try it. Yoga feels like a mother’s warm hug whenever you return to it, it welcomes you and appreciates you for showing up.
Thirty minutes feels like just three minutes once we immerse ourselves in the practice.
And yes, it doesn’t happen all of a sudden. It takes time, along with discipline and consistency.
In today’s soft skills class, the professor shared an insight about discipline. He defined discipline as a principle or set of rules that you set for yourself and try to follow, irrespective of the situations and hurdles.
I truly believe that, and I hope we all can set such principles for ourselves.
I aim to continue this journey and become a part of that peaceful world.
